Listowel Festival 2002 begins

The Listowel September Festival swings into action on Monday when the first session of a marathon seven-day meeting gets underway at 2.30pm. The opening 6f maiden looks a lop sided affair with the John Oxx-trained Legacy sure to start at prohibitive odds to open his account.

Sheikh Mohammad's colt sprouted wings from the furlong pole to finish a never nearer 3rd to Vettriano over 7f at Tipperary and although dropping back in trip here he looks nailed on to score.

Vettrianory lines up in the 1m nursery and in what looks a wide open affair slight preference is for Jim Bolger's filly Turn Back Time, winner of a Leopardstown 7f maiden in June, to follow up again under Kevin Manning.

Twelve face the starter for the Devon Inn 3yo Hurdle including several hurdling recruits but Tralee scorer Lost In The Rain gets a confident vote to score despite the burden of a winners penalty.
