David Nicholls has four runners in the Tote Ayr Gold Cup as he bids to win the sprint for the third year in a row on Saturday. The trainer landed the big Scottish prize with Bahamian Pirate and Continent and he will be represented this time by Funfair Wane, who is drawn in stall 16, Extinguisher (drawn 22), In Space (drawn 14) and Hurricane Floyd (drawn 27).
The weather continues to remain dry in the west if Scotland and Ayr's clerk of the course Chris Kennedy reported the going as good to soft, good in places all round. One trainer who will be pleased the ground has not dried out as quickly as expected is Bryan Smart, who saddles Vodafone Stewards' Cup winner Bond Boy in Saturday`s race.
