Godolphin's Essence Of Dubai finished second to Harlan's Holiday in the Pennsylvania Derby at Philadelphia Park on Monday. The three-year-old was producing his best performance in the United States this year and with a quarter of mile remaining in the nine-furlong event he held every chance.
But Harlan's Holiday, a dual Grade One winner already this season, produced a strong kick which Jose Flores mount could not match and Essence Of Dubai went down by four lengths.
