Jockey Jimmy Mansell is in a stable but critical condition after his fall at Ballinrobe on Sunday. The young rider, who is champion claimer in Ireland, was knocked unconscious and was taken to Mayo General Hospital in Castlebar where he was found to have suffered serious head injuries.
He is on a life support machine and Turf Club medical officer Dr Walter Halley said today he didn't expect to have any further news on the rider's condition until Thursday.
