Frankie Dettori has been cleared of any wrongdoing over his riding of a horse in a Newmarket maiden. The Italian was called to the Jockey Club's headquarters to explain the running and riding of the Ed-Dunlop trained Lobos on June 21.
After viewing video recordings of the race, the disciplinary committee found that the video evidence showed a lack of effort on the part of the rider which required an explanation. But after hearing evidence from both Dunlop and Dettori, the committee ruled that there had been only a minor breach of the Rules of Racing.
Had Dettori been found guilty of failing to take all "reasonable and permissible measures" to secure the best possible placing in the race, he would have faced a ban of up to 14 days.
