O'Brien holds key to Phoenix Stakes

Aidan O'Brien is responsible for 10 of the 23 entries remaining in Sunday's Group One Waterford Wedgwood Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh. The Ballydoyle trainer's entry is headed by Coventry Stakes winner Statue Of Liberty and the unbeaten Hold That Tiger, winner of the Railway Stakes at the Curragh on his last start.

There is a five-strong overseas entry for the 6f contest, which has been switched from its traditional Leopardstown venue, including Cherry Hinton Stakes runner-up Cassis from Jeremy Noseda's stable and the Richard Hannon-trained Tacitus.

British based trainer Dandy Nicholls will bid for his second Curragh success of the year when he runs July Cup runner-up Bahamian Pirate in the Phoenix Sprint on the same Curragh card.
