Rock Of Gibraltar, ridden by Michael Kinane and trained by Aidan O'Brien, won the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood today. The Sir Alex Ferguson-owned colt made history in the process, equalling Mill Reef's record of six straight Group One victories.
Mick Kinane cruised to the front in the closing stages to record a bloodless two length success over last year's winner Noverre. Reel Buddy was a further two lengths away in third. A delighted Kinane described Rock of Gibraltar as the "ultimate racehorse".
Earlier Dublin completed the rare progression from success in an all-weather maiden to pattern race triumph by landing the Group Three Champagne Victor Vintage Stakes for David Loder and Jamie Spencer.
