Leading apprentice Paul Hanagan came out on top on Vintage Premium in a three-way photo finish to the £135,000 John Smith's Cup. Vintage Premium, Kirovski and Leadership thrilled the Yorkshire crowd with a tremendous battle inside the final furlong.
It was the middle horse of the three, 20-1 shot Vintage Premium, who bravely held off his two rivals to win by a head from Kirovski (12-1) with the well-backed 9-4 favourite Leadership a short head away third.
