Vinnie Roe bids for Gold Cup success

There were only two overnight defectors at the final declaration stage for the Gold Cup on Thursday leaving a field of 17 for the Royal Ascot contest. Mark Johnston has taken out And Beyond while Godolphin have withdrawn Alunissage.

Dermot Weld's Vinnie Roe is a warm favourite to record a first Irish win in the two and a half mile marathon since Enzeli in 1999. Last year's winner Royal Rebel and runner-up Persian Punch will try and lift the crown once more.

Pulau Tioman heads a maximum field of 30 for Wednesday's Royal Hunt Cup. Michael Jarvis' six-year-old carries top-weight of 9st 10lb. Last year's winner Surprise Encounter takes his chance once again on 9st 9lb, while hot favourite Beauchamp Pilot (8st 8lb) represents Gerard Butler.
