O'Brien Palace entry leads to betting stalemate

Major bookmakers refused to open betting on the St James's Palace Stakes today after Aidan O'Brien left no fewer than seven horses in the race. Not only did the trainer confirm Classic winners Rock Of Gibraltar and Landseer for Tuesday's contest but he also has Castle Gandolfo, Century City, Nostradamus, Sahara Desert and Salentinos in a one-mile event he has won for the last two years.

In other Royal Ascot news Dominica was today given the all-clear to return to action in next Tuesday's King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot, eight months after an impressive victory over course and distance. The filly has not been seen out since winning the Cornwallis Stakes from the front under Martin Dwyer last October. But she was among 19 five-day confirmations today for the Group Two King's Stand over the same five furlongs.

Only other three-year-old left in the race is Maderno, Aidan O'Brien's sole acceptor from nine original entries.
