Salinas catches the eye at Fairyhouse

Fairyhouse is the venue for a predominately flat card on Wednesday evening, with the first of seven races due off at 6pm. Cabo Salinas, who is set to contest the seven furlong handicap, is potentially by far the most interesting runner of the night.

The four-year-old, formerly trained by Kevin Prendergast, is now in the care of Barney Curley and it is highly unlikely that the bookmakers will be taking any chances. His recent form figures are not exactly promising, but if the money arrives on course, there will be plenty willing to take a chance and row in with him.

Aidan O'Brien saddles just one runner at the meeting, newcomer Newfoundland, who is among the twelve declared for the opening juvenile maiden and will probably prove up to the task. Satiari let his supporters down when turned over on his debut at Gowran Park, but is expected to make amends in the 1m1f auction race.
