This year's Entenmann's Guineas Festival at the Curragh Racecourse, taking place on Saturday May 25 and Sunday May 26, will boast a significant increase in total prize money with EUR1.5 million on offer over the two-day meeting. The featured Entenmann's Irish 2000 Guineas (Group 1) and the Entenmann's Irish 1000 Guineas (Group 1) will again be two of Europe's most valuable contests with both races now boasting total prize money of E400,000.
Welcoming Entenmann's continued support for the Guineas Festival, Curragh Racecourse manager Paul Hensey commented: "The festival has huge international appeal and that is reflected in the number of entries for both classic races, which currently feature 72 (Entenmann's 2000 Guineas) and 91 (Entenmann's 1000 Guineas) of Europe's finest thoroughbreds", he added.
Trainer Aidan O'Brien expects to be strongly represented this year. The Co Tipperary handler completed an unprecedented Guineas double last year having saddled both the Entenmann's 2000 Guineas winner Black Minnaloushe and Imagine, who following her success in the Entenmann's 1000 Guineas gained further classic glory in the Vodafone Oaks at Epsom.
