Ned Kelly taken to win Champion Hurdle

The Emo Oil Champion Hurdle is the main event on the final day of the Punchestown Festival meeting, and Ned Kelly is taken to beat Landing Light in a six runner line-up. Edward O'Grady's charge missed out the Cheltenham Festival through illness, but showed his current well-being when scoring on the Flat at the Curragh. Landing Light was a shade disappointing behind Hors La Loi at Cheltenham, while Davenport Milenium bids for a Grade 1 double this week after winning here on Wednesday.

The David Austin Memorial Novice Handicap Chase is the chief supporting race, and Takagi get the vote for O'Grady and local owner Dermot Cox. The seven-year-old lost his chance with a bad mistake three out in the Irish National, and may now have most to fear from Ellenjay and Rith Dubh. The jackpot pool is guaranteed for E60,000, and O'Grady is again the trainer to follow in the 4yo hurdle where Turtleback looks banker material.
