Connections of Wicked Crack are hoping for rain at Aintree ahead of the Irish-trained mare's bid for the Martell Grand National on Saturday week. She has shown her best form on a soft surface and her trainer Eddie Hales said today: "She's ready for the National. We could just do with a bit of rain but we're happy to be going."
Hales has been satisfied with Wicked Crack's preparation for the Aintree marathon. He said: "Everything seems to have gone smooth enough. She's ready to rock and roll. We'll just keep her ticking over with a bit of schooling here and there. The National weights are set to go up only a few pounds and Hales added: "Around 10st 3lb would be a nice job."
Hales has no concerns over Wicked Crack's ability to stay the four and a half miles of the Grand National trip. Riding arrangements have yet to be finalised for the mare, who is a best priced 40-1 chance for Aintree.
