Limerick to stage first meeting since Christmas

Racing returns to Limerick on Saturday for the first time since Christmas and a jackpot rollover of EUR5,5250 will act as a major draw. The first of seven races is off at 2.30pm. Eternal Night, second to On The Mend at Downpatrick last time, could almost be seen as a banker in the 2m 2f Beginners Chase, the opening leg of the jackpot.

Emperors Guest, who chased home subsequent Cheltenham winner Scolardy at Thurles earlier this year, tops the weights in the 2m Handicap Hurdle and he should be up to beating his six rivals. The locally-trained Horner Rocks boasts some good placed form and may just improve to win the 2m Ladies Handicap Hurdle.

The 2m Novice Hurdle is an open looking contest and perhaps the Gary Hutchinson-ridden Sheer Frustration can come out on top. The Tony Mullins-trained Dutch Lad, a promising second at Leopardstown last time, looks the one in the opening Maiden Hurdle. Topacio cannot be opposed in the Hugh McMahon Memorial Silkwood Chase and he looks certain to be sent off a long odds-on favourite.
