Huge entry for Cheltenham handicaps

A massive 636 candidates have been entered for the seven handicaps at the Cheltenham Festival next month. There are 59 hopefuls for the Pertemps Final Hurdle on the opening day, 81 entries for the William Hill National Hunt Handicap Chase, also on the opening day, and 81 entries for the Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup for amateur riders.

There are 19 Irish entries for the Mildmay of Flete handicap, which takes place on the Wednesday, 72 for the Grand Annual Chase Challenge Cup on Thursday, and a record 115 for the Festival's concluding event, the Vincent O'Brien County Handicap Hurdle.
