Kinane booked for Tamburlaine

Richard Hannon has secured the services of Michael Kinane for Tamburlaine in the Hong Kong International at Sha Tin on December 16, it was revealed today. Kinane comes in for the ride on the Sagitta 2000 Guineas runner-up as regular rider Richard Hughes is sidelined with a broken leg.

Kinane, who will team up with Tamburlaine for the first time, also partners Bach for Aidan O'Brien in the International Cup. The 12-times Irish champion jockey has twice won the old International Bowl, aboard Winning Partners in 1993 and Additional Risk for Dermot Weld in 1991.

Kinane has not yet managed to land Hong Kong's biggest prize, the Cup, but the consistent Bach is reported to have come out of his fine third to Val Royal in the Breeders' Cup Mile well. And connections are hopeful of reversing the form with that American rival over the extra two furlongs.

“Bach came back from America in super from and he has been getting better and better throughout the year,” said O'Brien. “Mick said his run in the States was his best so far and I think he is more suited to this trip.”
