Alassio looks good for Ballinrobe win

Ballinrobe's popular July meeting winds down tomorrow with an eight-race mixed programme which kicks-off at 5.30pm. Winner-finding during the evening is likely to prove decidedly difficult, with Alassio standing out as the in the 1 mile 1 furlong maiden. Previously trained by Jim Bolger, the Gulch filly had her first outing for Michael Grassick in a maiden at Leopardstown earlier this month and went down by just a short-head to Naahil. That marked Alassio's third second-placing in succession, and her fourth in all, and she looks to have found a good opportunity to deservedly get her head in front at last.

Land Of Promise ran a decent race when fourth at Roscommon a fortnight ago, and although the 6 furlong trip is a worry may have the winning of the claimer, with Princess Button the likely danger. Over the jumps, Brachvogel should be difficult to beat in the concluding 2 mile maiden hurdle if he can reproduce the form which saw him finish second in Killarney, while Givenchy De Solzen may reward each-way support in the 2 mile 1 furlong handicap chase.
