Madison Corcoran, Liam Jegou and Noel Hendrick will all be back in canoe slalom action on Sunday after an eventful day in the kayak cross at the Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium.
Formerly known as extreme slalom, kayak cross made it's Olympic debut on Saturday with plenty of thrills and spills as four racers fly down a ramp into the water and try to make their way down the canoe slalom course first, taking in a roll on the way.
In the women’s event, Madison Corcoran failed to progress automatically in her opening race, but in the repechage, second place from three competitors in action, was enough to see her into the last 32.
The heats begin at 2.30pm on Sunday, with Corcoran in the eighth and final heat where she will be up against Viktoriaa Us of Ukraine, Leena Teunissen of the Netherlands and Great Britain’s Mallory Franklin.
The Vanderbilt University student must finish in the top two to progress to the quarter-final.
Similarly in the men’s event, Liam Jegou and Noel Hendrick were also reliant on the repechage to progress.
Both Irish paddlers won their respective races and the men’s heats will begin at 2.30pm on Sunday with spots in the last-16 up for grabs.
Jegou goes in heat 2, while Hendrick is in the seventh of eight heats.
