Olympics Podcast: Holy Mona! Ireland win their first medal in Paris

On a super night for Irish swimming, Mikey Stafford is joined by Mona McSharry's fellow University of Tennessee alumni Barry Murphy to relive the Sligo star's bronze swim.

Minutes after the race, Murphy was still recovering from the nail-biting ending as McSharry took the bronze by 0.01 seconds from TWO others in the 100m breaststroke final.

He also pays credit to the progress in Irish swimming, which may see another medal won on Tuesday when Daniel Wiffen goes in the 800m freestyle final.

Following Kellie Harrington's imperious opening bout, Eric Donovan joins Mikey from Paris to discuss the Tokyo gold medallist's fine form and look ahead to the rest of the week for an Irish team that has several shots on boxing medals.

Eric also explains the scoring method now used in the case of a fight that finishes level on the judges' cards.

And Mikey shares the story of Australia boxer Reginald Snowy Baker, who knew a thing or two about dodgy officiating.
