Annalise Murphy has won and finished second in her two qualifying races in the Laser Radial class on Thursday to move up into 14th position overall.

The Rathfarnham sailor put in a pair of big performances to keep her chances of making the medal race in the Laser Radial sailing class alive heading into the final day of qualifiers on Friday.

The top 10 finishers after the ten qualifying races will advance to the medal race.

Murphy had a poor start to her Tokyo campaign earlier this week, with 35th and 12th place finishes in her opening two races on Sunday, followed by 24th and 37th place finishes on Monday.

However the Rio 2016 medallist began to turn things around with 9th and 10th place finishes in races five and six to move up into 20th place overall.

Speaking to RTÉ Sport at that point, she had vowed to "battle to the end" in order to advance to the medal race - something she has so far done with some aplomb.
