Several people suffered minor injuries when an overhead camera crashed to the ground in the Olympic Park on Monday afternoon in the latest mishap to befall the Rio Games.
The camera belonged to the Olympic Broadcast Service, the International Olympic Committee-owned television company that serves as the host broadcaster at each Games.
On a fine but breezy day, the OBS realised there was a problem with the camera, which moves on cables above the main concourse, at approximately 1.30pm local time.
But having started to rescue the camera with a cherry picker, both guide ropes snapped and the camera fell from a height of about 20 metres.
The falling cables and ropes injured several fans, although nobody was seriously hurt.
Two women were taken to hospital but an OBS statement later confirmed that they had been released from care.
