Annalise Murphy hungry to prove she's learned London lesson

Annalise Murphy has described the frustration of seeing her medal race postponed but insisted it is all part of the sport of sailing.

Murphy lies third in the laser radial standings going into the all-important medal decider, but weather conditions in the Copacabana harbour would not come good, forcing organisers to postpone the race until Tuesday.

"It was a long day waiting around, there wasn't much wind," Murphy told RTÉ Sport.

"We weren't sure we'd be racing but they sent us out in what looked like no wind, but then a lot of wind came through and now we are back in because of too much wind. It's just part of the sport unfortunately.

"It's a little bit frustrating because I'd like to be finished today, but I'll just have to go out and do the same things tomorrow."

The race has been rescheduled for 5pm Irish time this afternoon, weather permitting of course, and the Dubliner revealed her heartbreaking experience of finishing fourth in London four years ago makes her hungry to make up for that result this time around.

If the race cannot be held tomorrow, Murphy, will take the bronze medal. Otherwise, here is what she needs to do to end up on the podium.
