Ireland's Judy Reynolds qualified for the dressage final after a terrific display in the Grand Prix Special on Friday.

Reynolds guaranteed herself a top-18 finish, which is enough to progress to Monday's Freestyle final, with an assured and confident performance aboard Vancouver K.

The Kildare rider, who is her country's sole dressage competitor in Brazil, followed up Thursday's 74.700 with a superb 74.090.

In dressage a rider has to show off their horse at three gaits in the ring - those being walk, trot and canter.

"The joy on their faces says it all! My proud dad and husband today," Reynolds said on social media.

"I am thrilled and honoured to be representing Team Ireland in the Freestyle Final on Monday in Rio. I am so happy and want to thank my amazing team, my mom and dad, my husband and my groom Elizabeth.

"The biggest thanks goes to my best friend JP (Vancouver K) #TwoHearts."

Reynolds' fellow Team Ireland Equestrian rider, Greg Broderick, starts his campaign this weekend in the discipline of showjumping. The first individual qualifier class will take place at 2.0pm Irish time on Sunday.
