Caitríona Jennings (31) recorded a time of 2 hours 36 minutes 14 seconds in the Rotterdam Marathon to make the qualifying time for the Olympics.
Jennings made the Olympic team ahead of Maria McCambridge, who also made the qualifying time. However, with only three places for the women's marathon available, Jennings made the cut ahead of McCambridge.
She is relatively new to marathon running and is the second person from Donegal to achieve Olympic qualification in 36 years.
She is a sister of champion rower Sinead Jennings.
