Olive Loughnane keeps cool in stifling Milan heat

Olive Loughnane overcame the suffocating conditions to claim a remarkable second place in the IAAF Permit Race Walking in Milan yesterday.

The Loughrea woman finished in a time of 91.33 as the Italian city fizzled in temperatures that reached 30 degrees Celsius.

Elsewhere, Derval O'Rourke also recorded a second place finish at a grand prix event in Ried, Austria.

The 100m hurdler ran a seasonal best time of 13.09 as she continues her preparations for the London Olympics.
