Shay Given missed the Republic of Ireland's final training session in Tuscany this morning, but he will start against Hungary on Monday night.
The goalkeeper is suffering from blisters and walked around the training pitch while the squad were put through their paces at the Alberto Benedetti stadium in Borgo A Buggiano.
Giovanni Trapattoni said that Given's absence from training was also to allow him to rest ahead of the team's final friendly before Euro 2012.
Trapattoni said: "It is better that he has one day's rest. In the last game, for example, Doyle didn't play and he has fantastically recovered energy. They need some time also.
"It was better also to let him have a rest because he has worked too much, and it is better that he is fresh, and also mentally fresh.
Trapattoni said there was no concern about the 36-year-old's fitness and he saw no risk in playing him.
He said: "Not now, no. I hope not during the game. It is true that we have a possibility to call another, but it would be better if we finished this friendly game without a problem."
Given returned to training last Thursday after recovering from a knee injury that had kept him out of action for ten days.
Trapattoni said last week that both Given and John O'Shea, who had an ankle injury, needed to prove their fitness ahead of the tournament.
Stephen Ward sat out the final minutes of the session following a heavy collision with Sean St Ledger, but is expected to be fine.
"It's just a knock, it's no problem. He need a little bit of ice," said Trapattoni.
The Italian again said that the team that starts in Budapest will more than likely start against Croatia in Poznan on 10 June.
He said: "Yes, without injury, or there is again training tomorrow. But sure, 90% it will be the team that will start against Croatia."
The team departs for Budapest tomorrow morning after what Trapattoni described as a "beautiful week" in his homeland.
He said: "This morning, we finished a very, very - wonderful is too much, but beautiful - week, and we are very happy.
"I have said to the players: 'Thanks, thanks a lot for your attitude, for your engagement and attention to everything we have asked of you'.
"I can also repeat what I said two days ago: we have had a good time, we have had good weather, we have also had a very good atmosphere in Montecatini.
"I will say also the city, because also in the hotel, we have had a very good rest.
"We have re-charged the batteries, and you can also see that in how the players played in this training game."
