Burnett into Youth Olympics final

Belfast's Ryan Burnett guaranteed Ireland at least a silver medal from the inaugural Youth Olympics with a 2-1 semi-final over Zohidion Hoorboyev of Uzbekistan in Singapore on Sunday.

Burnett took a 1-0 lead in the first round with a right to the body but was pegged back at 1-1 in the second. However, the Holy Family clubman found the winning score in the third and final frame at the International Convention Centre.

He will now meet Salman Alizada of Azerbaijan in Wednesday's light-flyweight final in a repeat of the AIBA World Youth final which Alizada won in Azerbaijan in May.
