Top-ranked American team Philip Dalhausser and Todd Rogers booked their place in the Olympic beach volleyball final after comfortably seeing off Georgian duo Jorge Terceiro and Renato Gomes on Wednesday.
The defending champions recorded a 21-11, 21-13 victory over their opponents to set up a clash with Fabio Luis Magalhaes and Marcio Araujo, who beat fellow Brazilians Ricardo Santos and Emanuel Rego, the defending champions, 22-20, 21-18 in the other semi-final.
With the triumph, Dalhausser and Rogers become the second American beach volleyball team to compete for gold in Beijing.
Defending Olympic women's champions Kerri Walsh and Misty May-Treanor posted their 107th consecutive success when overcoming Brazilian pair Renata Riberio and Talita Rocha on Tuesday to advance to the gold-medal match, where they will face Tian Jia and Wang Jie from China.
As for the men, Dalhausser used the full extent of his six-foot nine-inch frame to create an imposing presence at the net, recording nine blocks in addition to nine kills and three aces.
Not to be outdone, Rogers recorded 18 kills and 14 digs for the reigning world champions.
