Derek Burnett's chances of reaching the final of the Men's Trap appear slim after he ended the first qualification event in 15th place.
Burnett hit 69 of the 75 targets in this afternoon's qualifiers, but with just the top six progressing to the final, even a perfect score in tomorrow's remaining two rounds may not be enough for the 37-year-old.
The Longford sharpshooter scored 24 and 22 respectively in his opening two rounds.
Burnett is competing in his third Olympics for Ireland and had realistic medal hopes, but with just two rounds to go his chance seems to be gone.
