Ireland's Melanie Nocher and Aisling Cooney have failed to reach the Olympic qualifying standard at the Dutch National Swimming Championships.
Nocher set a new senior record finishing first in the 200 metre back stroke, while Cooney came in second but neither time was good enough to secure Olympic qualification.
Tonight both go in the womens 50 backstroke heats, which is a not an Olympic event.
Barry Murphy took the bronze medal in the men's 50 freestyle but he too was outside Olympic qualification.
The Dubliner will swim the heats of the 100 free on Saturday night, hoping to register a 50 metre time below 22.35 seconds.
