Haile Gebrselassie has said today that he may withdraw from the marathon at this year's Beijing Olympics if the city's air pollution levels do not improve.
The 34-year-old Gebrselassie, who won yesterday's Dubai Marathon, said that would be his last race at the distance before Beijing.
He plans to run some shorter races before setting up base to prepare for the Games.
He said: 'If things are still heavily polluted I would try to run a different distance, instead of the marathon.
'When I come to Beijing, things could happen, it could be worse and that's why I'm a little bit worried.'
