South Korea's Moon Dae-sung won the men's taekwondo over 80kg gold medal at the Olympics today, knocking out his Greek opponent in the first round of the final.
Moon caught Alexandros Nikolaidis in the temple with a reverse roundhouse kick just over a minute into the bout.
Nikolaidis slumped to the mat and although he was helped to his feet by his coach, he did not regain full consciousness for a couple of minutes.
Eventually Nikolaidis came round to rapturous applause from a relieved crowd. Moon and Nikolaidis then embraced before leaving the stadium arm-in-arm to a standing ovation.
It was Korea's second gold medal of the taekwondo tournament.
Chinese reigning champion Chen Zhong won gold in the women's over 67kg category, beating France's Myriam Baverel in the final.
Chen used her greater height and reach to good effect to run out a comfortable 12-5 winner by the end of the third round.
France's Pascal Gentil won bronze in the men's division and Adriana Carmona of Venezuela took the women's bronze.
