China's Luo wins 100 breaststroke gold

China's Luo Xuejuan won the gold medal for the women's 100 metres breaststroke at the Athens Olympics this evening.

The 20-year-old won the final in one minute 06.64 seconds - just outside Australian Leisel Jones's world record - from lane one.

American Brooke Hanson took silver in 1:07.15, just edging Jones into third place in 1:07.16.

Luo won the 50 and 100 metres breaststroke at the World Championships in Barcelona last year.
