It's the final day of the Paralympics but before the closing ceremony takes place, Irish eyes will be on Kildare’s Patrick Monahan who is competing in the men’s marathon T54 event.

This is Monahan’s second Paralympic event having finished 16th at the Rio Games five years ago.

Inspired to take up Para-Athletics while watching London 2012, Monahan is a now a multiple Dublin City marathon champion, with four consecutive wins between 2014 and 2018.

After that, the closing ceremony will take place with the handover to the Paralympic committee of France ahead of Paris 2024.

Katie George Dunlevy will be the Irish flag bearer for the closing ceremony. Katie-George will be joined by her guide and the pilot of the incredibly successful Irish tandem, Eve McCrystal.

There will be coverage of Monahan on the RTÉ Player overnight, with television coverage starting on RTÉ 2 from 11.50am.
