Irish archer Kerrie Leonard's Paralympic Games came to an end this morning under the blazing Tokyo sun after she suffered defeat to Stepanida Artakhinova of the Russian Paralympic Committee.
Leonard was in contention throughout the last-16 match until the third end, where she shot a costly 24 compared to her opponents 29.
She did manage to win the next end with a superb 29 but the damage had been done and Artakhinova was able to see it out for the win.
Leonard was pleased with her first Paralympic experience and is already looking forward to more.
"It’s amazing to have made the last 16 in the Paralympics and it shows, if you’re given the opportunity, just how much you can do if you go for it," she said.

In shooting, Philip Eaglesham opened his Tokyo 2020 campaign with a very encouraging showing in the SH2 R4 Qualifiers.
Eaglesham showed great consistency by hitting the centre ring with 58 of his 60 shots to finish 14th overall, which wasn't enough for a place in the final.
His final tally of 626.6 points was a new PB by a margin of 3 points in an event that provided him with valuable competition practice ahead of his favoured events later this week.
