Ireland's Nicole Turner swam the fastest race of her life, finishing eighth in the final of the S6 50m freestyle at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo.
The two-time Paralympian had already set a new personal record en-route to the final and she went under that time again, setting a new standard as she finished in a time of 35.29 seconds.
Ukraine's Yelyzaveta Mereshko claimed the gold medal breaking the Paralympic record as she finished in 33:11, while Elizabeth Marks took silver for the USA, and the bronze went to Anna Hontar of the Ukraine.
Afterwards Turner "I'm being hard on myself if I say I would have liked to go a bit faster but it was about a quarter of a second faster than this morning, so it's another PB. I am really happy.
"From this morning the aim was just to get into the final and swim the final and come out with that, so I am very happy with that."

There was also an eighth place finish for Róisín Ní Riain in the S13 100m butterfly final
The 16-year-old, swimming at her first Paralympics, finished in a time of 1:09:26, slightly slower than her time in the morning heats.
Italy's Carlotta Gilli claimed the gold in a time of 1:02:65 with another Italian Alessia Berra winning silver. The bronze medal went to Daria Pikalova of the Russian Paralympic Committee.
"The time was a bit slow," the Limerick teenager told RTÉ Sport afterwards.
"It was the first time in a Paralympics final, so I'm happy with that. It was good fun and my main event is yet to come. I've five more events left."
Speaking about the support from her team mates Ni Riain continued, "I could hear them all when I came out so that was really lovely."
Barry McClements got the action underway for Team Ireland at the 2020 Paralympics and set a new personal record in his S9 400m freestyle heat.
The Ards swimmer was the first Irish athlete up at Tokyo 2020 and duly impressed, but was unfortunate to miss out on a place in the final as he swam a time of 4:27.11, finishing fifth in his heat.
That new personal best was the ninth fastest time in the event but, with only the top eight progressing, McClements just missed out.
