1.30pm Eoghan Clifford: Cycling, C1-3 Road Race
Expectations will be high for Eoghan following his heroics so far in Rio. The Galway man grabbed C3 Time Trial gold for Ireland at the Pontal Cycling Road in Rio, to follow up his bronze in the C3 Individual Pursuit on the track last week. It has been a hugely successful year for the man from Galway bay having won gold in the UCI Para-Cycling Road World Cup Time Trial, while following that up with a silver medal in the Road Race, and he’s not finished yet...
1.30pm Colin Lynch: Cycling, C1-3 Road Race
Colin produced a brilliant performance at Pontal to claim silver for Ireland in the C2 Time Trial, following up from his fifth in the Individual Pursuit competition, when narrowly missing out on a bronze medal ride-off. The 45-year-old Canadian born cyclist, whose father is from Drogheda, won his first Time Trial world title in 2011. In 2015, Colin won two golds on the UCI World Cup Circuit and this year won a silver in the 3km Pursuit at the World Track Championships.
1.52pm Ellen Keane: Swimming, S9 100m Backstroke Heats
Ellen has already bagged bronze in the SB8 100m breaststroke at Rio’s Maria Lenk Aquatics Centre, but yesterday could only manage eighth in final of S9 100m butterfly final, and the Dubliner admitted the excitement at her bronze win affected her preparations for yesterday’s race. The 21-year-old said: “I tried to get home, get to bed early and recover well. Unfortunately, I just lay there for a couple of hours because I just couldn’t get to sleep!” Hopefully she got some shut-eye last night!
