Rena McCarron Rooney found world No.1 Seo Su-Yeon too hot to handle as the Donegal woman exited the women's table tennis singles at the quarter-final stage.
The Irish player was always going to be up against it but put up a brave fight before going down to the Korean by three games to nil, 11-5, 11-8, 11-3.
McCarron, who already faced reigning champion Liu Jing in the group stage, acknowledged the draw had not been particularly kind to her.
"She's the one lady I didn't want to meet," she told RTÉ Sport. "I needed a little bit of luck not to get her.
"But having said that, I put in an okay performance. I suppose I found it hard to believe I could beat her, she's just so physically strong.
"I'm disappointed I didn't win but I played as well as I could."
