Irish Paralympic shooter Sean Baldwin has finished in 33rd place in qualifying for the 10m Rifle Prone at Rio 2016.

Baldwin signed for final total of 624.1, which was a season's best performance, but only the top eight shooters progressed.

The 10m is not Baldwin's preferred event and he will now concentrate on the 50m events which are held on the outdoor range next week.

"It was a season's best today, so I'm quiet happy but I'm not really happy until I'm on top," the shooter told RTÉ Sport afterwards.

The Irish Defence Forces member is looking forward to moving outdoors to the longer distance and explained: "It's the wind and there's more to think about. Here, it's so easy to hit a 10 to be honest, but it's also so easy to miss. The smallest little movement here - it's bigger up there.

"I'm shooting really well in 50m prone so once that keeps up I'll be very happy."

This is Baldwin's second Paralympic Games after he scored a personal best in the 50m rifle prone at London 2012.
