James Brown and Damien Shaw have narrowly missed out on a podium place in the Bronze medal ride off in the paracycling Individual Pursuit B competition at the Velodrome.
The pair clocked a time of 4:26.075 to finish outside the medals in fourth place behind the Spanish pair of Clemente Solano and Munoz.
In the Bronze medal ride off the Spaniards set the pace early on, leading the Irish by just .4 of a second.
The Irish put on a push approaching the halfway mark, and reversed the lead. Coming into the second last lap the lead reversed again when Spain made a massive push to secure the Bronze medal.
Nevertheless it was an impressive display from the Irish duo who have only been together since January .
Brown said: "We will improve with more time together, we are racing against full-time professional bike riders whilst holding down a business and jobs.
"If we get a chance to spend more time training together on a full-time basis we will no doubt build on these results.”
Enda Smyth took two seconds on his own Irish record in the Men’s Individual C1-2-3 1km race against the clock. Smyth, who broke his elbow two months ago, finished 16th out of the 28 competitors and was ranked 7th of the C3 riders.
