Darragh McDonald began swimming competitvely at his local Asgard swimming club in 2006. He made rapid progress, winning silver in 400m freestyle at Beijing 2008.

Following his impressive results at the Beijing Paralympics, he followed this up with silver in the 2009 IPC European Championships and a 400m freestyle Bronze at 2011’s IPC European Championships.

With his consistent results, McDonald will have high hopes of climbing the podium again at London 2012.
