John Twomey has enjoyed a distinguished Paralympic career and will make a phenomenal tenth consecutive Games appearance at London 2012.

Prior to his sailing career, he previously won medals in athletics' discus event - bronze in 1984 and gold at Seoul 1988. He also competed in table tennis before his transition to sailing, winning silver in the teams in Anhem in 1980.

With his team he has competed at the IFDS World Championships. Their final position of seventh at the IFDS World Championships in 2012 puts them in a favourable position going into London.
