Roy Guerin has had a successful sporting career to date, initially in athletics, and more recently making the transition to powerlifting.

London will see him enter his third Paralympic Games, having been at Atlanta 1996 and Beijing 2008.

His best result in Beijing was sixth in the 100m athletics (he also competed in the 200m and 400m).

In Atlanta he competed in 100m athletics.

He has since made the transition to powerlifting which has proved successful in his qualification for London.

Guerin enters the Paralympic Games in London as Irelands first Paralympic powerlifter since the early 1960s.
