Team Ireland has a large number of rowers heading to the World Cup I event in Seville, with double Olympic gold medallist Fintan McCarthy set to race in the Single Scull event.
The event marks the first senior international test of the season for many of Ireland's High Performance athletes as crews continue preparations towards a busy summer racing programme.
Selection for World Cup I follows an extensive winter training and trial process at the National Rowing Centre, with athletes and crews working through months of preparation, testing, and racing to earn selection for the Irish team.
"World Cup I is an important milestone for our programme and provides an excellent opportunity for athletes and crews to benchmark themselves internationally early in the season," said High Performance Director at Rowing Ireland, Niall O'Carroll.
"A huge amount of work has gone in behind the scenes over the winter months, from daily training sessions and camps through to a demanding trial process at the National Rowing Centre.
"Selection for these crews has been highly competitive, and the athletes have earned the opportunity to race in Seville through their performances and commitment across the season to date.
"We are looking forward to seeing how they perform against world-class competition as we continue building towards the major championship events later this summer."
The 2026 World Rowing Cup I takes place from 29 to 31 May in Seville, Spain.
