Ireland's Nhat Nguyen is through to the last 16 at the European Badminton Championships after beating Azerbaijan's Ade Resky Dwicahyo on Wednesday.
The Dubliner, who is seeded sixth in the men's singles at the championships in Huelva, Spain, dominated the first game 21-8.
The two-time Olympian then finished the job in a second game of the best-of-three format that proved much closer, winning out 22-20.
Nguyen will now face Finland's Kalle Koljonen in the round of 16 on Thursday with a quarter-final spot at stake.
In the women's singles, Sophia Noble exited at the round of 32 stage after losing 21-18 27-25 to Bulgaria's Stefani Stoeva.
