There was no joy for Irish competitors at the World Badminton Championships in Paris, with Nhat Nguyen and the mixed-doubles pair of Joshua Magee and Moya Ryan losing their round of 32 matches.
Nguyen, who is ranked 30th in the world, lost out to number 8 seed Kodai Naraoka of Japan 21-18 21-14.
The 25-year-old two-time Irish Open champion had defeated Brian Yang of Canada 21-9 21-18 on Monday.
Magee and Ryan, who were comfortable 21-10 21-10 winners against Linden and Eva Wang in their round one match on Tuesday, were beaten by the number 16 seeds Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto.
The Indian pair recorded a straight-set 21-11 21-16 victory.
