RTÉ Sport Young Sportsperson of the Year nominees revealed

The six-strong shortlist for this year's RTÉ Sport Young Sportsperson of the Year has been confirmed.

In the running for the honour are a cyclist, a javelin thrower, a sailor, a swimmer and two boxers.

Last year Republic of Ireland and Brighton striker Evan Ferguson took the prize.

Jacqui Hurley, Darragh Maloney and Joanne Cantwell will present the awards live from Studio 4 in RTÉ at 9.30pm on Sunday, 15 December.

The awards being handed out on the night also include RTÉ Sport Sportsperson of the Year, RTÉ Sport Team of the Year and RTÉ Sport Manager of the Year.

Those shortlists will be revealed in the next few days.

Lucy Bénézet Minns

One of Ireland's top cycling prospects, Lucy was the women’s points race gold medallist at the Junior Track European Championships.

Kyla Doyle

Kyla was the gold medallist at the boxing World Youth Championships and European Youth Championships.

Oisín Joyce

Javelin thrower Oisín won a bronze medal at the World Athletics Under-20 Championships.

Eve McMahon

Ireland’s youngest ever Olympic sailor after qualifying for Paris 2024, Eve won the gold medal at the Under-21 ILCA6 World Championships.

Róisín Ní Ríain

After making her Paralympic debut in Tokyo 2020, Róisín took home a silver and bronze medal at this year’s Games in Paris for the 100m backstroke S13 and 200m individual medley SM13.

Adam Olaniyan

The boxer won gold at the European Youth Championships and Gold at the World Youth Championships.
