The AFL Women's Finals series contenders were confirmed this weekend with all six sides who have made the latter stages of the competition having an Irish player within their ranks.

Adelaide Crows, who have Clare footballer and RTÉ Sport columnist Ailish Considine in their squad, finished top of the regular season standings after a 53-14 win over St Kilda's on Sunday.

Considine contributed 13 disposals, two tackles and a mark in the win which assures Crows of a place in the penultimate round Preliminary Finals on the weekend of 26-27 March.

With a chance to reach April's AFLW Grand Final showpiece at stake on that day, Crows will meet the winner of the Qualifying Finals match between North Melbourne and Fremantle which will take place next Saturday, 19 March.

Fremantle beat Gold Coast Suns 46-9 on Sunday to finish fifth in the regular season, with Leitrim's Aine Tighe shining for the Dockers with a goal and a behind.

North Melbourne were just above Fremantle in fourth thanks to Saturday's 59-20 win over West Coast Eagles.

Aileen Gilroy was in action for North Melbourne, with a tally of 13 disposals against an Eagles team featuring fellow Mayo footballers Grace Kelly, who scored a goal in the game, and Niamh Kelly.

On the other side of the finals draw, Melbourne's second place finish means that - like Considine and the Crows - Dubliners Sinead Goldrick and Lauren Magee and their team-mates go straight to the Preliminary Finals.

Staunton's tally propelled to joint-top of the scoring charts after Friday's performance with 18 goals for the season.
