Jenny Egan has won a silver medal at the International Canoe Federation Senior Canoe Sprint World Cup.
Competing in the Women's K1 5000m in Barnaul, Russia, Egan started out in lane one and was running in the top three places after the first two minutes, vying with Sweden's Johanna Johansson as Germany's Paulina Paszek led on the way to eventual victory.
But Egan maintained her pace to finish second in a time of 22:41.017 ahead of Norway's Maria Virik and fourth placed Johansson after the leading quartet decisively broke away at the front by the halfway stage.
Egan narrowly missed out on gold as Paszek pipped her to victory by just 0.087 seconds at the finish line.
